Leigh Blasé Strain (Dance Instructor)
Leigh grew up in New Jersey and began dancing at the age of 7. In her early years she studied ballet only until attending her first Jay Dash Convention in Philadelphia, PA at the age of 13. There Leigh was introduced to acrobatics, jazz and tap. She was very inspired by the acrobatics' instructor, Mary Jane Scanlon Logan who was a well known performer, former gymnast and owner of her own gym where she trained all levels of gymnasts in Reading, PA. Leigh participated in the five year Jay Dash Teacher's Program and student teacher program at her home dance studio, receiving her teaching certificate in 1981 at age 18. Wanting to expand her skill level, Leigh enrolled in the summer program at the Cherry Hill Gymnastic Academy right after graduating high school and studied ballet and jazz at the School of the Mount Laurel ballet. Leigh has taught acrobatics and gymnastics on a part time basis at several area dance studios and gyms since 1981 while working on a full time insurance career, earning the insurance designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, CPCU and raising three children. In addition to teaching, Leigh works full time as an Assistant Vice President of Professional Liability at a underwriting management company in Marlton, NJ. Leigh truly loves teaching all levels of acrobatic students and is excited to see the accomplishments and improvements of the students of CBDA in their 3nd year of acrobatic training as well as the new student growth. Many students - new and old have jumped from beginner skills to intermediate/advanced skills and the momentum for advancing students can be seen in every class. The acrobatic program has grown from three classes of age groups/levels to five this past year and we plan to add additional classes in the fall to accommodate growth in numbers and level.
Ro Cornwell (Dance Instructor)
Miss Ro graduated from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1987 with a degree in Early Childhood Elementary Education. She was employed by Winslow Township Public Schools for 12 years working with kindergarten and preschool children. Although sports and physical activity have always been a part of her life, Miss Ro didn’t start dancing until well into adulthood. When Miss Eve and Miss Debbie opened their new school, she signed up as soon as adult classes were offered and has been dancing ever since. Miss Ro would like to thank Miss Eve and Miss Debbie for giving her the opportunity to teach young children again. Encouraging creativity, physical activity and self expression through movement and dance is what she wishes to accomplish with the children at Cedar Brook Dance Academy.
